Chong-De’s First Pioneering Base
Yunlin is Fa-Yi Chong-De’s first Tao Community and the first stop in Taiwan for Holy Emperor Bai Shui and Bodhisattva Bu Xiu Xi as they pioneered Tao propagation. Since 1954, Grand Senior Elder and Senior Elder have established Holy Temples at the Youth Photography Studio, Taihe Inn and Chong Xiu Temple. Government restrictions, language barriers and the difficulty of introducing people to Tao presented great obstacles. Through the Heavenly Mandate, holy miracles and our predecessors’ sincerity and perseverance, the community grew, achieving the remarkable vision of a temple in every township. Chong Xiu Temple became the center of Tao propagation in Yunlin and the first large Fa-Yi temple in Taiwan.
Our Journey · Towards the Future
“Those who suffered with me, endured hardship, government restrictions and every kind of difficulty, and walked that long, challenging road beside me were the Masters of the Yunlin Tao Community. The road through those early years was difficult. Our Tao Seniors accompanied me from the past to the present, and many have vowed to continue into the future.” Like new branches growing from an old tree with deep roots, Yunlin’s community remains united, following in the footsteps of Senior Elder and carrying forward our heritage and responsibilities. We pass on a sincere commitment to Tao cultivation and service, and a spirit of selfless dedication and sacrifice.
Today · Nurturing People
Years of dedicated care have sustained steady growth. The community now operates through five Districts: Liuhe, Xianghe, Zhangxing, Jianan and Liushun. Each has guiding Masters, a coordinating group, local operations, Tao affairs and classes, all focused on putting cultivation and service into practice and nurturing people.
Our Character · Putting Tao into Practice
Yunlin was traditionally an agricultural community, and many people moved to cities for employment. Retaining and supporting people is therefore a continuing priority. Our many large temples, accomplished spiritual predecessors, pioneering work and commitment to Chong-De School are distinctive strengths. As Chong-De develops new ways of working, the community continues to learn and grow stronger.
Our People · Sharing the Mission
Three sections share one purpose: the Society Section, College Section and Teenager Section. With different responsibilities but one heart, they support one another’s learning and service. Everyone can be a helper to Heaven. Those devoted to Tao cultivation and service form an essential bridge for sharing the sacred Tao. Through study and practical training, we establish strong foundations and deepen our practice. Yunlin follows Heaven’s will. Under the enduring guidance of Bodhisattva Bu Xiu Xi , the community implements the decisions and guidelines of Chong-De’s responsible leadership. We cultivate and serve sincerely and selflessly, uphold Tao without divisive teachings or rumours, and each accept our responsibilities. United in purpose, we develop both understanding and practical ability, honour Tao through action, cultivate wisdom and blessings, and preserve the spirit of the Bodhisattva and Holy Emperor. Our gratitude and commitment to fulfilling our vows remain steadfast.
Our Vision · A Lasting Sacred Endeavour
With firm roots in Taiwan and growth overseas, strong foundations allow every branch to flourish. Building on a rich heritage, we keep pace with our times, find thoughtful ways to welcome people and use digital media to support learning. Through sincere effort, virtue, self-cultivation and cooperation, every District contributes. We think and act in the spirit of Chong-De, devote our lives to Tao and continue serving others across generations, setting self-interest aside and sharing loyalty, integrity and universal love. Together, we carry forward the virtue of our Patriarch and Matriarch and sustain the sacred endeavour of Grand Senior Elder and Senior Elder for generations to come, opening a new chapter together.
